Employment

1.  Will you hire seasonally?

A.  At this time we are looking for full time employees.  We are considering part time seasonal  for the future as an option.

2.  What are we looking for?  Mechanic Experience?  Pilot Experience?

A. For mechanics, we require an A&P license.  If you are recently out of the military and can get your license that would be a possible alternative we would consider.  We like to see Blackhawk experience, hands on wrench bending time.  Yes, we like to see that you have been a supervisor, but, how many phase inspections or resets have you done?  How many field deployments for significant periods of time have you done? (three months or longer)

A2. For pilots, we like to see longline and utility experience.  Astar and Hawk time are our primary interest.   Your total hours are not as important as what types of work you have done.  We prefer fire experience and mountain experience.  We would rather hire an experienced fire pilot and train them in the Hawk than hire an experienced Hawk pilot and train them in fire.  We give great weight to prior Astar time.

3.  Will you hire low time pilots for the co-pilot position?

A.   We do not usually hire low time pilots as copilots.  We have when there is a need, but would rather hire a more experienced pilot and train him to be a Captain.  Although, our co-pilot positions are training positions that we will consider hiring a less experienced pilot for.

4.  How much do you travel during the year?

A.  We usually travel for four to six months a year.  Mechanics can usually do a rotation of two weeks in the field in the summer and two weeks in the shop.

5.  Why do the mechanics rotate more than the pilots?

A.  We are building our pilot staff, but pilots currently travel longer than mechanics.

6.  If I am applying for a mechanics position why do I have to be eligible or have a CDL?

A.  All our mechanics are required to have a Class A commercial drivers license with tanker and hazmat endorsements.  We pay them an additional $0.20 per mile for business miles driven in one of the helicopter support trucks.

7.  Do you have any medical insurance? If so what are the terms?

A.  Yes we do have a medical insurance plan.  You are eligible after three months from your hire date and the company pays half of the monthly premium.

8.  Do you have any type of retirement plan?

A.  We have a profit sharing plan.  You are eligible after one year and vested after three.
